Prof. Christoph A. Meier is an internist and endocrinologist and Director of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital Zurich. He is a member of the Federal Quality Commission, where he co-leads the task force on PROMs; he serves on other national and international panels, including the Future of Health initiative (Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv) and the expert panel of Newsweek’s ‘Best Hospitals of the world’.

Prior to his current role, he was from 2016 until 2020 the Chief Medical Officer and deputy CEO at the University Hospital Basel, where he implemented Value-based health care, including PROMs as key tools for quality management.

Before 2016 he was the Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine & Specialties at the Triemli Hospital in Zurich, as well as Chief of Endocrinology at the University Hospital Geneva, where he is also a faculty member.

Prof. Meier studied medicine in Basel and did his clinical training at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD), the Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA), and the University Hospital in Geneva.
