Peter Stonier is a Visiting Professor in the Centre for Pharmaceutical Medicine Research, Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Professor Stonier is a pharmaceutical physician with experience in medicines development, clinical research, medical affairs, life-cycle management, and pharmacovigilance. He was medical affairs advisor, medical director, and board member of the Hoechst Marion Roussel group of companies UK (now Sanofi), and later group medical director of Amdipharm plc.
Professor Stonier is Director of Education and Training at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal Colleges of Physicians UK, and is the National Programme Director for pharmaceutical medicine specialty training. He was a founding Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal Colleges of Physicians UK, for which he formerly served as President. He is a Board Member of the International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Pharmaceutical Medicine, for which he previously served as President. He is also Academic Vice-President of the International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians Academy.
Peter graduated in physiology with a doctorate in protein chemistry (inborn errors of metabolism) from the University of Birmingham and the University of Sheffield. He studied medicine at the Manchester Medical School. His publications include texts in pharmaceutical medicine and edited works in human psychopharmacology, clinical research, medical affairs, and careers in pharmaceutical medicine.
