Dr Kyoko Imamura is the immediate past president of IFAPP, after she completed her presidency in 2018-2020. She is orthopedic surgeon and holds MD, Dr of medical science (clinical pharmacology), and PhD (outcomes research). Since she joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1995, she has built up her career in R&D and medical affairs and was led in management position. At the same time, she joined the Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine (JAPhMed), the Japanese member association of IFAPP, and served as the President from 2009 to 2016. Since 2017, she has developed academic enterprise as Professor of Social Cooperation Program of IT Healthcare, at Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo. She has led research projects to promote innovative clinical trials including virtual (site-less) clinical trials, promoting pharmacists’ leadership in community, patient and public involvement, and real-world data studies. In 2020, she developed the Japanese Institute for Public Engagement (JI4PE) as the non-profit organization to promote social engagement in drug development and health policy projects as the founding President.
