Andreas Papapetropoulos is a pharmacist. He earned his PhD in pharmacology at the Medical College of Georgia (USA) and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University. He is currently Professor of Pharmacology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Affiliated Investigator at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Greece. He is a fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and the American Heart Association. He has served as a National Delegate at the European Medicines Agency and is currently President of the European Federation of Pharmacological Societies. He has been Adjunct/Visiting Professor at European (Maastricht University) and North American Universities (McGill University, LSU, UTMB, UMDNJ). He is a member of the editorial boards of journals published by the British and American Pharmacological Societies and the American Heart Association and a reviewer for more than 60 international journals and 26 private and state funding bodies in Europe, America and Asia. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of drug action and the preclinical evaluation of drugs.
