Dr. Andreas Beust is Chief Executive Officer of the Contract Research Organization (CRO) GCP-Service International Ltd. & Co. KG (GCP-Service), which performs national and international clinical trials for medicinal products, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics. With more than 40 clinical studies every year, GCP-Service encounters a high diversity of clinical trials, and is focused on running optimized clinical trials.

Following his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Bremen, Germany, Dr. Beust joined GCP-Service as Biostatistician and Data Manager. Over the following years, he focused on statistical consulting and trial optimization as Biostatistician and took over responsibility for the Biostatistics and Medical Writing departments. In 2022, he then took over the role as CEO of GCP-Service and continued expanding his focus on advising clients about their trial design and ways to optimize them.

Dr. Beust is intimately familiar with requirements of clinical trials on European and international level and has supported and provided input into more than 70 trial designs to this date. As a statistician, he understands the importance of study design and choice of endpoints on sample size, and how to minimize trial designs to streamline trial conduct. This is especially true for medical device trials, which have more room for minimization than medicinal products do. He loves discussing about trial optimization, and has given talks around this topic at the German Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine (DGPharMed) as well as the Drug Information Association (DIA).
